Is Kenya going for a second lockdown? Chief Of Staff, Office of The President Nzioka Waita explains about the COVID-19 status in the country and what statehouse plan to do.
" If we start seeing people dying, if we start looking at the strain on our hospitals, referral facilities and regional facilities, then we can take action. We'll look at the key numbers, " Nzioka Waita speaks at K24.
" We managed to keep a lot of sectors moving, particularly in the agriculture sector, " he added.
" The President, for now, is focused on keeping the economic engine going, "
Talking to Ann Kiguta at Punchline, K24 TV, Mr Nzioka Waita says the President will be more than ready to lockdown for a second time when people start to die in worrying numbers or hospitals overwhelmed.
" We do expect to peak anywhere between August and September. We have seen many iterations that continue to be shattered week on week. Is the strain in Kenya the same as that in the UK? All that is jumbled right now, " he said.
" We are moving away from public order management towards individual civic responsibility. Across the world, the shift is moving towards a protocol for specific sectors, organisational and individual compliance, " he added.
